Where is Jesus right now? In the Nicene Creed, we affirm that Jesus now sits at the right hand of God the Father, and from there he shall return to judge the living and the dead. In other words, he is not here (for now). Why is this significant? First, it makes us look honestly at the absence of God, especially those times of hardship when we feel God is not with us. Secondly, Jesus' ascension is necessary in order for God to send the Holy Spirit to be with us - making us look honestly at who is the Holy Spirit.
